Mayim Bialik: Planning a Vegan Rosh Hashanah

mayim

Rosh Hashanahis fast approaching.Happy New Year!

Here's how my preparations are coming along.

I bakedround-ish challahs.My hand hurts,但一切都可爱。

I scraped the counters with a metal spatula.

Because I am a real normal mom (despite me being on"The Big Bang Theory"),I did not realize that I went out for dinner with my kids after all of my baking in a t-shirt stained with everything I had just baked.I literally spent an entire evening out and about, walking in the streets, eating in a grown up restaurant, thinking I was this competent-ish divorced mom of two, making it all look doable.

Yeah, except I was covered in batter and flour and crap.Sigh.

The plan for Rosh Hashanah is me and the ex and my kids and my best friend and her daughter and my folks eating a festive (vegan) meal.We do Thanksgiving-style foods forRosh Hashanah;it's a little tradition the ex and I started a few years back. So: his great grandmother's Southern cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes,a vegan field roast type of thing, agave carrots(from my cookbook),vegan honey cake(see this 苹果beplayKveller post for that delicious recipe!).Then a little synagogue,a little shofar,a little off-the-grid-ness Thursday and Friday,a little anxiety aboutYom Kippurand all of the atoning that will be in effect…

Another year. This one went by super duper fast for me;I don't know about you.

Happy New Year.See you on the flipside of 5775.
